Port Perry Pedals is a charitable cycling event based in Port Perry, ON – a picturesque, historic community on the shores of Lake Scugog in the Region of Durham, about one hour north-east of Toronto. It was founded in 2021 in partnership with the Rotary Club of Port Perry.
The inaugural event, held September 12, 2021, welcomed 200 participants from across Ontario, and raised over $40,000 in support of the "Here for You" campaign of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation to purchase a CT Scanner for Lakeridge Health Port Perry. Routes included a 30km, 50km, 100km and 150km to celebrate of Port Perry's 150th anniversary. A family 10km was also offered.
Port Perry Pedals strives to celebrate and further develop the growing popularity of cycling in the area, and the opportunities cycling and cyclotourism can bring to the local economy.
Scugog is now part of the Province-wide Cycling Network, and the Greenbelt Route, the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail, and the TransCanada Trail offer a wide variety of riding options.
