Port Perry Pedals visits PET-CT

Dec 5, 2024

Port Perry Pedals had the opportunity to the visit the first PET-CT scanner in Durham Region. The 2023 ride raise $56,000 for this important piece of cancer-care equipment.

Today, we had the incredible opportunity to see the PET CT Scanner at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, a life-saving piece of equipment that our community helped bring to reality. This advanced technology is already making a huge difference, allowing for earlier diagnoses and improved treatment plans for countless patients.

Funds raised through Port Perry Pedals played a part in this achievement. Every pedal stroke, donation and ounce of effort from this community has truly contributed to something bigger than ourselves.

Thank you to everyone who supported this cause. Together, we’re not just cycling; we’re saving lives.

Territorial acknowledgement

Port Perry Pedals acknowledges the Treaty and Traditional Territories of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation and the Mississauga peoples. We are grateful to engage our work, and ride our routes on lands that are situated within the Williams Treaties and pre-confederation Treaties.

We acknowledge the land out of respect for the Indigenous nations who have cared for it since time immemorial. The settlement of these lands has been marked by poor treatment of Indigenous peoples and we commit to working with them towards a shared understanding of truth and reconciliation.
